Goosebumps, Tears, Respect, and a Timely Family Discovery

I think the universe has a way of leading me sometimes.  I let it.  Today I stuck my nose into my family research again as I had the time and found a very interesting discovery.

Today is the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam during the US Civil War.  It is the bloodiest one-day battle in American history.  I happened upon the military service records of an ancestral relative and found that he served in an Infantry Regiment that fought at Antietam that day . . . this day . . . 150 years ago.

He was my great-grand uncle: an older brother of one of my great-grandfathers.  Since I happened upon his record today, found his final place of rest today, discovered another story to tell Goodnight, and learned a more personal perspective of the US Civil War, I wanted to take a moment to mention it.

I think the serendipity is still taking my breath away.

Some things seem to have a reason for happening at a particular time.

Another wonderful discovery. I’m looking forward to getting through this latest busy period at work so I can start digging back into my research.
