Rock Star

It might not look like 1500  pounds of rocks, but I’m Sure Goodnight can attest to the weight.  She shoveled all of it last night to help our neighbor get her landscaping rocks out of her driveway.

Our neighbor has had heart surgery and shouldn’t do any heavy lifting or any exertion that would affect her chest area.  We push her garbage bucket up and down the driveway and I climb the ladder to clean debris out of her gutters in the spring and the fall.  It was no surprise that she knocked on my door yesterday when her rocks arrived.  She knows I will help.

We are both a bit rebellious when it comes to the townhome association and their landscaping regulations.  Her fighting spirit was reflected in the rocks she had delivered.  She pull up shrubs that the association hasn’t taken care of and actually made worse with their careless mowing and snow-plowing.  The rocks have now replaced all of that.  GN shoveled and wheeled. I dumped and raked the rocks into place.

The thing is, GN volunteered.  I didn’t have to ask for her help.  the side benefit of hard work is a welcome night’s sleep, too.

My neighbor is a bit of a rebel when it comes to our association rules too. Of course, our rules are sometimes ambiguous about landscaping. But my neighbor has a good eye for what makes sense and what will help the immediate environment, so she mostly gets away with what she tries.

I hope that neither of you is too sore from the big workout. Nice of your neighbor to offer you a good way to build biceps! ;-)

  3. Well done GN!

How does the Townhome Association idea work?

Young Goodnight has a heart of gold, doesn’t she. I’m also curious about Townhome Associations along with their rules and regulations.
Thanks for the Welcome Home – hopefully I can talk about the trip over the next few posts.
