“Grammy? Could we please go out for steak?”

I’m like to think that I’m not overindulgent as a legal guardian/grandmother.  Then again, there are times when GN can get what she wants when she asks for it.  To tell you the truth, I can’t even remember the last time I had a steak . . . probably a year ago . . . and I didn’t cook it that time either.

Goodnight asked me if I would take her out for steak two nights ago.  She had a good reason.  She won’t be eating any for a long while.  Considering the frequency that we’ve had it, I doubt that she’ll actually miss it, but I’m easy sometimes.

It’s hard to see, but she’s a girl after my own heart.  She chose purple and turquoise for her teeth!  Of course!  I took her out for steak and enjoyed our rather formal but last-minute date.  I’m glad we did.  She’s smiling in the photo, but she will be hurting for a few days, so she gets to eat mashed potatoes, gelatin, yogurt, smoothies, popsicles, and generally smooshy stuff until the initial pain subsides.

As for me, I got up at 4:00 this morning and peeled a BUNCH of potatoes, cooked them, then mashed the whole bunch to have ready for when she’s hungry, but can’t chew.  I prepared a few other things for her to have on hand as well.

Yawn!  Time to get to work . . .

I was lucky and never had to get braces.

  3. Ah, how I worried when the younger Mr Dancing had to have about 6 teeth out before having braces fitted. I couldn’t work out how on earth they would all sort themselves out – but they did and were perfectly well-aligned at the end of it all. We used to go to an orthodontist in Bath whose waiting room overlooked the Guildhall and whose waiting room wall was plastered in hundreds of postcards from all over the world.

Dancing: Luckily GN didn’t need any teeth pulled, but she’s had a lot of suppor fro her new high school friends . . . and thier stories as well. It keeps things in persoective for her.

I hope GN is not feeling too much of the pain. I remember the days when my son and daughter had tender teeth and gums from those metal things in their mouths.

GN always has a beautiful smile.
