Whew! The first week of the semester has nearly blown right by. It’s always a busy start that can find me dragging by the end of the day. I stayed late a couple of days to fill in where we had a need, so there hasn’t been much time except to eat sleep, commute and work. The tempo of my days, combined with my Parking Price Protest (PPP) has left me pondering the three block hike I make twice a day as I park outside the boundary of the paid parking or ‘no street parking’ limits. My spirit loves the walk; my knees hate it!
For most of the week, even though I arrived home exhausted, I didn’t even consider parking in the ramp and ending my PPP. I’ve saved over $300 already! But last night, after being awake from 2:00 a.m. and finally rolling in at 9:00 p.m., I found myself resolved to give myself a break today.
Yup! I was going to park in the college lot. Not only was I willing to take a hiatus from my PPP, I had resolved to check out the brand new parking ramp (the one they built right where my old parking spot used to be). When I went out to my garage to back my car out this morning, I picked up the mail that I didn’t have the time or energy to look at last night. I would normally have considered it all junk, but the following caught my eye.
It was from a local health care provider and it was advertising for a post-operative orthopedic program that I don’t need. It was the heading that made me decide that I had gotten enough sleep and I had the energy to hike to my car for another day!
My PPP i$ intact and I can hear the $ound of the ca$h I $aved.

I hope your PPP gets easier. That’s a nice amount of $$ to save!
Also, Voltaren Gel works wonders for achy joints and knees. Your doctor would need to prescribe it, but it’s not very expensive!
Huzzah for the healthy and economical choice!
The first week is always hectic isn’t it? I also work at a university. Our first week of classes, etc. was blown away by the hurricane and cancelled. We’ll see how things go tomorrow. I understand about the parking–much too expensive and here you pay just for the privilege to search for a parking space–no guarantees. I’m grateful I live close enough to ride my bike!
Lisa: It is! WHen I’m at work, I love the crazy rush. Love to help those who have a dazed look on their faces. But I go home tired!
