You know me. “A chore and a drawer a day” is my motto for trying to keep up with the housework. I got a little behind on that while Goodnight and I were on our Heritage Hop, Skip, and Jump Vay-cay. So it was back to the summer chore list for me.
Today was Light Fixture Day. This happens to be a team event. Goodnight does not get to be a spectator.
Go to the garage, grab the ladder, haul it into the house, set it up, climb, undo the screws, hand the glass to GN, climb down the ladder, move ladder to next location, repeat the climbing and unscrewing part until everything is done downstairs, carry the ladder upstairs, repeat the climbing again, etc. Whew! We got that part done before lunch.
I washed all the glass and set the larger pieces on a towel to air dry. The glass pieces from the dining room light fixture air-dried in the dishwasher rack, so they could be set on edge for better air circulation.
Goodnight and I got some laundry done and then sat down to watch a movie while all the glass dried. Then . . well you know. Up down, up down, ‘can you hand me the screwdriver’, hang the glass. I just put the ladder back in the garage.
Goodnight was upstairs getting ready for a sleepover when I heard her say, “Whoa! It’s so much brighter in here, Gram!” (They weren’t THAT dirty, but I always think the lights are brighter after Light Fixture Day, too.

Wow…that’s a pretty big chore. We only have floor and table lamps for lighting in our condo.
Oh wait…we have the overhead lights in the hallway. Yikes! They are probably well overdue for a good cleaning like this. I may have to leave a note for the housekeeping service.
