We are no longer under quarantine. Thank you for your kind wishes, concerns, and private messages. It may seem longer than it actually was, but it was long enough. It was extended, though, by what the medicines did to both of us. I have received what I think/hope is my last call from the Department of Public Health.
While Goodnight was resting, I had plenty of quiet time to continue my genealogy research. In the process, I was able to find the names of two ships on which my ancestors sailed to America. Reading the passenger manifests was incredibly touching to me. So many people did not survive those voyages. I was also able to find a replica of an oil painting that depicts one of the ships.
As a result of the research, my granddaughter an I are ready to take a ‘Hop, Skip, and Jump Vay-cay’ to visit some little villages (still unincorporated) where some of those family members lived out their lives . . . and are buried. One of my 3x great-grandfathers made the trip with his son, my 2x great-grandfather. I have found where 2x is buried, but not 3x, though I am counting on my intuition to lead me to the right place.
There are still some mysteries that I can’t solve by sitting at the computer, so GN and I are heading out on a road trip. First, the Hop - for a day. Then the Skip - for another day, and then the Jump - for the rest of the week to the Luxembourg Fest of America in Belgium, Wisconsin. I’ve never been there before . . . I didn’t know I was part Lux, but I’m glad I found out before the Fest!
We’ve been studying Lëtzebuergesch while under quarantine, so we should do okay if someone says hello of if we want to buy a doughnut.

One of my ancestors is from a place near Luxembourg, I’ve found out so much over the last couple of weeks. I can’t wait to be able to start travelling to actually see grave markers and home towns.
Trav: Glad you have found a lot of family info, too. Lux eh? Will you go there at some point?
I would like to go some time. I understand that at least one ancestor’s house may still be standing and in use as an actual residence.
Trav: Oh! That residence sounds like something to see!
Stunning outfit you have there, Miss Phitt!
And it’s very exciting that you found all of that information, G.G. I’m glad that you and GN will be getting out and solving some mysteries.
Hello Carol! Glad you like my outfit. I have much more style than Gram.
Oh, I thought your travel bag was a jumper! Well, it’s still stunning!
So glad everyone is feeling better. And Miss Phitt looks quite charming with her new handbag! Happy travels y’all.
Glad that your quarantine is over … Luxembourg eh? I remember visiting a cafe there some years ago when we did a tour of Belgium, France, Switzerland and Germany. As far as I can recall I believe I ordered in French … but we didn’t have doughnuts! (Guess they would have been beignets)
I wonder whether a trip to Europe looms in the future?
Dancing: I would go to Lux, but I doubt that it will be while GN is in high school . . . but one never knows. And Gn and I won’t be ordering any doughnuts either. She laughed when that word came up in the lesson. We’ll probably sample the mustreipen.
Love your purse, Phitty! Did Gram make it for you? Hope all of you enjoy your vacation. So glad the sickness is behind you . . .
Hi Lisa: Yup! Gram knitted my travel bag! Thank you for your kind wishes. We’re so glad to be out of the house!
