Knee-cessity is the Mother of Invention

July 8, 2012

Due to the hole where my previous parking spot used to be at work, the construction going on in the parking lot, and the continued work I’ve been doing on knee-hab since my clumsy fall last summer, I decided to think “outside the parking lot” – at least until the first freezing rain in the Autumn.

There is a daily fee to enter the parking lot at one of the places where I work.  Street parking is prohibited during the day except for those who have permits and those who get the permits are the residents.  But that permit zone doesn’t go on forever.

I took a drive to find where the permit zone ends and decided to park on the street and walk to work from there.  I wouldn’t have been able to do that since my fall, but I began this process as soon as I could tolerate walking further than the farthest parking spot inside the property.  Knee-hab is a process . . .

I’ve already saved nearly $60.00 and walked 92 blocks – just to and from work.

Note to self:  Ju$t keep doing it!

Little White Dresses

July 8, 2012

Because I am on a roll with posting groupings of old photos, I wanted to add this photo as well.  I think it’s my favorite grouping, but it might be because I’ve already set this group in a frame and have it hung.

It shows four generations of First Communion photos beginning with Gr8, then Gram, then Angel, and ending with Little Gr8 (GN).  Three girls wore the same veil – passed down by my mother.  I didn’t wear the same veil because the one I wore was a cousin tradition at the time.I already wrote a longer post about the pix, but I for the sake of order in my blog, I wanted to post them again near the high school pix and bride photos.

Here come the brides . . . of yore.

Over the years, I’ve been rather tied to keeping my photographs in chronological order.  As I grow older, however, I like grouping them in similar themes, particularly if they involve family photos.

Two of the  brides above made their own wedding dresses.  One of the brides above made one of the other wedding dresses above. Not enough is known about the oldest of the wedding dresses to say if it was made by the bride . . . though she sewed very well, too.

Faded High School Memories

July 8, 2012

I recently fond the oldest of the photos below. It was a high school graduation photo, so I thought I would put what I have in a grouping.  Because the first woman wore white, it became a family tradition for the women to wear white blouses for their photos as well.

I’m hoping to add two more generations to the high school grouping.  I need to have a chat with one of the generations about that.
