You may or may not be able to guess that I have been busy ‘meeting’ old family members via photos I’ve never seen before. I cherish the opportunity to look at their faces, see their features and recall other relatives who have carried on specific genetic traits.
Below is a photo of one of my great-grandfathers. He is my paternal grandmother’s father and the husband of the woman in the photo I posted yesterday. Their photos were not taken at the same time as is obvious by comparing them.
My paternal grandmother got her father’s features and his stature. I smiled from deep within my heart when the resemblance was so immediately obvious.
I love that I get to see my great-grandfather dressed up. I know what he did for a living and would not have dressed that way on a daily basis. I love the partial view of a porch swing. Grams never had one.
Great-grandpa had a lyrical name as did hiw wife and when I say his name together with his wife’s, it sounds like a phrase in a song. I’ll spare you the names, because it’s probably the song of a great-granddaughter who can put a face to thenames on the graves she’s visited.
