Bananagram to Knitters – and the Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee

It’s time for another Super Scarf!

Just because it’s time for one, doesn’t mean I have one yet.  ;-)   I have one in the works, but Jelly Bean, the Evil Queen has had an extra busy calendar lately and that leaves little time for me to knit.

A thought occurred to me, though.  I don’t have to wait until I finish my next Super Scarf to post a blurb to entice more knitters to participate in the Super Scarf Project.  Since Goodnight and I just received a set of Bananagram tiles from my sis, I thought I would do the blurb this way.  As you read the following, insert the Bananagram word you see centered in the photos.

Dear

  The

Super Bowl Host Committee has a project for you!  They are asking us to knit (the vertical word)

for the expected 8000 volunteers needed to Host Super Bowl XLVI.  So, if you have the time, go to your favorite shop and buy the approved colors of

Find your favorite scarf pattern and just start

Once you get started, you’ll see how much

it is!  I know it’s been fun for me!

I just checked the Super Scarf website and by the looks of their reported total, knitters have had fun 3,063 times already!  Anyone else in?

 Love,

p.s.  I’m not the only one making Bananagram messages at my house.  Jelly Bean, the Evil Queen left the following message for me to find on the dining room table this morning.  She didn’t know I’d played with the tiles to do the Super Scarf promo . . . . .

Happy knitting!

  1. Love that last message.

What exactly IS a Bananagram (I get the idea of it) but why BANANAgram? I know you’d be that if YOU ate loads of bananas then you’d be one …. but ??

DOABG: It’s game with letter tiles like Scrabble, but each person plays individually against each other, builds their own puzzle and can rearrange tiles anytime if they can use another letter. More rules than that, but that’s the basic concept. Goodnight likes it. My Sis and her kids play it too. Bananagram name because the tiles come in a banana-shaped, zippered pouch. http://hotchristmasgiftideas.com/bananagrams Cute pun, too!

      • Now that you have described it, I realise that we have a similar game at home except that it is in an Apple Pouch!

I thought the game seemed vaguely familiar!

DOABG: That apple is pretty cute, too! Wonder what other ‘fruits’ there are around the world – and who decided which country got which fruit!!! Wew’re having fun with it, though. Goodnight uses it to study for her vocabulary quiz in her language class.

      • Did you spot the Pairs in Pears on that Amazon link? So, we got the Apples and Pairs (which you may know is Cockney rhyming slang for stairs)

Goodnight might be interested in Cockney.

        Plates of Meat = Feet
        Barnet (Fair) = Hair
North and South (Cockney pronounciation would be Norf and Sowf = Mouth
Butchers (short for Buthcher’s Hook) = look

Just going off on a tangent again.

DOABG: You’re right! Goodnight would LOVE the Cockney. Interesting. I think learning by immersion would be fun, don’t you think? We both have passports!!!!! Love your tangents.

Dancing beat me to the bananaGRAM pun.

I’m glad that they are collecting so many scarves. You are a great knitter and contributor to the cause. You may even entice me into watching the Super Bowl just to be able to see your scarves being worn.
