Hello Dolly!!!

July 18, 2010

I have another niece besides Miracle.  Miracle is my brother’s daughter and ‘Dolly’ is my sister’s daughter.  My sis told me that Dolly checks my blog from time to time, so I wanted to give a shout out to her.

Hello Dolly!!!

Dolly isn’t her real name, of course, but I decided to call her Dolly on my blog because my sis had a doll with the same name when she was a kid.

Dolly is working on her Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Toxicology.  She’s smart and will travel that journey successfully.   But Dolly has a fun side that’s been keeping me young.

She sent me a Dust Bunny.  Not the fuzzy kind that hides everywhere if one isn’t good at keeping house.  The Dust Bunny she sent me fits on my hand and it’s to be used for dusting.  I use it all the time!  And it makes me smile when I’m dusting.

Another item that came from Dolly makes me smile when I’m baking, though, come to think of it, Goodnight uses it more than I do lately, especially on Dinner by Alphabet day.  It’s a Batter Finger.  Perfect ide, when you think of it.  What kid doesn’t want to stick their finger in a bowl of batter and sneak a taste?  Well, the Batter Finger is a spatula in the shape of a finger.  I love it!

I’m much too practical to buy these things for myself.  But thank goodness we have a younger generation to knock us out of our ruts from time to time, eh?  It makes me feel like I see the world through Dolly’s eyes when I use my Dust Bunny and my Batter Finger.

This post isn’t meant to be a commercial, but just so happens that both items were made by the same company, Fred Flare, in case you are interested.  The link will take you to the ‘At Home’ section.  But if you Google them, read what the first hit says:  “Fred Flare, Stay Cute!”.  That makes me smile.

Cute it is, then.  My Dust Bunny is cute.  My Batter Finger is cute.  And Dolly is cute, too - inside and out!  And thanks to her, she’s brightened a couple of my household tasks.

but . . .

Since Dolly checks my blog, I am going to offer a ‘Cute-over’ opportunity to her and see if she steps up to the plate.

Hey Dolly!!!! My favorite housekeeping chore is vacuuming.  I love to vacuum.  It makes me sing!  Take your best shot and give me some ideas to turn my current vacuum cleaner into cuter version of itself a la my Dust Bunny and Batter Finger.  Whaddya say?  Shall I paint it with bright stripes?  Shall I disguise the head to make it look like a hippo?  Or . . . shall I make it look like a ‘Dolly’ doll?  Let me know what you think.

You have your auntie’s email address.  I’ll be looking forward to your ideas.

For the rest of you readers, what is your favorite housekeeping chore?
